Chiang Mai

Chiang Mai: Goodbye! 19:09:14

So today we visited Doi Suthep – Pui National Park!
A mini bus picked us up and we drove about an hour to the national park. First stop was the Sirithan waterfall. It was really beautiful!

We then went to visit the Royal Project. A place the government has starred with pretty gardens which the local tribes support by selling flowers and locally grown coffee. It was really nice but it started raining! The coffee was really good! No chance of me and Nkosi falling asleep after that!

We then went to see the King and Queen Pagodas as well as the highest point in Thailand! It is known as the rooftop of Thailand. It was a shame about the weather as we didn’t get mich of a view due to the clouds. However the detail in the buildings was lovely. I also wasn’t aware it was on the adgenda and therefore my shorts where a bit too short to go inside which was a shame.

There used to be 2 kings of Thailand; one of bangkok and one of Chiang mai. When the king of Chiang mai died there became only one king of Thailand. He got his bones buried at the highest point. There is a monument there in his memory too.

After that we had a 5 course lunch which was nice although very spicy! Nkosi is impressed with how well I’m doing with the hot food!! I’m trying everything…even though my mouth is on fire for ages after! It also had another waterfall there which was lovely.

We then went to visit the Karen village. A tribe where they wear their own clothes and is christian religion. Saw out first church since being in Thailand! They wear white if they are virgins if not they wear hand made clothes in their families design.  They also grow their own coffee. It was very strong. Nkosi said its his favourite ever coffee!

After that it was home time. We went out for our last night out. We bought some organic vodka from the tour (won’t be doing that again… It tasted odd) and drank hong thong too! It was a great night! Went to a Reggae bar and it went off … As usual Nkosi made best friends with the live band!!  We made it to the after party too! Great night in great company and even got sippy to do her first selfie!

Off to Pai tomorrow … Can’t wait! Made a great friend in sippy while here so will miss her… But we will meet again! This post is dedicated to her… She made our time in Chiang mai memorable and fun and we found things because of her…including hong thong! Thank you sippy… Much love!
