Chiang Mai

Chiang Mai; Journey to Chiang Rai and Happinest 28:09:14

So today the plan is to travel to Chiang Rai to head on our way towards the Laos boarder.

We got up and had a nice breakfast to line the stomach. I had an omelette, but Nkosi decided to go all out and got this mega feast.

We then took a taxi to the Chiang Rai bus station for 20 baht each. From here we got on the green bus to Chiang Rai. There are lots of them and they come every half hour. It was 150 baht each for a seat on the bus. The bus was actually really nice, deep reclining seats and air conditioning.

The hostel was defiantly the nicest we have stayed in so far. We chose a hostel called Happinest. It is brand new and 10 minute walk from the night bazaar. It was not the cheapest but amazing service and the first soft mattress we have slept in for 3 weeks! We had a dorm to sleep 6 as there were 5 of us and it was like being back at uni. We walked around Chiang Rai, i must say, there is not much there at all other than the white temple and the town was very quiet, although the night Bazaar was lovely with live music and lots of food.  Nkosi lost his bag, so we ended up replacing it with one made “in a hill tribe” yeh not sure i believe that!  I also finally learnt how to tie my headscarf properly and bought one aswell!

Our hostel was a bit ore expensive than the other places we have been in Thailand. Our room for the night as 350 baht each, although this did include breakfast.

That evening we went for food and had a suer chilled evening…including watching spiderman as a group in our beds… shame everyone fell asleep and we were watching it for what feels like the 1000th time!

Peace and love
